Women's Development Council of Northern Colorado
BWNFC (Fort Collins)
Meeting is March 5th from 11:15am to 1pm.
We will meet at The Lodge at MacKenzie Place,
4751 Pleasant Oak Dr, Fort Collins, CO 80525
Our Speaker for this month is Sandra Pilkington
Sandra Pilkington worked in the mortgage industry for 28 years.  During those years, she worked as a primary lender and later as a broker. She opened her own brokerage in Seattle, WA when that concept was very new and uncharted.   She sold her company to move to Fort Collins where she opened a branch office for the new owners.
Mortgage brokering was not just obtaining a mortgage loan for her clients but also included a great deal of marketing to realtors, attorneys, accountants and of course, her potential clients.  She not only had to find innovative methods of marketing herself and her employees but also became a student of what other people and other industries were doing to bring clients to their businesses.
Sandra's topic is "Out of the Box" Marketing
She will share some of her ideas and observations from our past work and hope to inspire you to come up with new "Out of the Box" marketing practices for your business.
Our spotlight member this month is Patti Smith
Patti joined the Zonta Club of Fort Collins nine (9) years ago and during that time has helped to initiate several programs. Patti initiated the Birth kit program where high school students are introduced to Global Women's health care issues and they make 400 birth kits each year. Beth Heckel, of Think Humanity, takes our birth kits to her Ugandan Health Clinics. Patti helped to initiate the Zonta Club annual fundraiser, our Women's Author event; a Zonta Z club at Poudre High School that has since closed and she has initiateda Zonta Golden Z College club at CSU. Patti initiated the Her Legacy: Women of Fort Collins Historic Public Women's Art/education exhibit. It will be the first public art exhibit recognizing women 's accomplishments and the legacies they have left for our community. This is an education offering for our community. The Poudre School District is a partner and will support their teachers to write curriculum in several grade levels to introduce these women's life journeys, to the students.
